FAQs

We will meet for our session and I will let your dog approach me and I encourage them to sniff out my camera. They always want to put their head in my bag, it’s because there are so many good smells in my bag! I will guide you along the entire session and give you prompts that encourage natural interaction. I will make weird noises to grab your dog’s attention at times, but my goal is to have them interacting with you the way you always do!

Our schedule is pretty loose. Sessions usually average 45 minutes, sometimes they’re shorter and sometimes they’re longer. Your dog will tell us when they’re done and I always listen to your dog. I want your dog to have just as a good experience as you, when they’re done they are done!

Yes! If there is more than 1 dog, my partner Evan will be there to pupsit while we photograph one on one photos. If you’re pup isn’t a fan of new people (we get it!), I recommend bringing a friend along to help.

I hate to be a party pooper, but I need to be upfront with you. I just want to photograph your dog being themselves. No props or crazy clown outfits. I want photos of you and your dog relaxed and having a good time.

Photos will be delivered 2 to 3 weeks after our session. After our session you will receive a link to a beautiful online slideshow where you will be able to sit back and view the slideshow in the comfort of your home.

You will receive about 40 fully edited proofs to drool over and choose among. Check out my galleries to get an idea of what I offer. Photos can be purchased via collections, we don’t offer individual digitals or prints.

I am asked to photograph family reunions, commercial photos, weddings, and the list goes on. The simple answer is no. Dogs inspire me and make me happy. I am here to photograph your dog. If you need a photographer referral message me and I’m more than happy to recommend qualified local photographers.

I have learned over the years that as much as I love doing Pup + Me sessions at your home, the photos don’t achieve the vision that I have for my art. Because of this, I have selected gorgeous and peaceful locations to photograph at to produce beautiful images.

I am very picky about my session locations. My rule is: if I don’t want to take my dog there, then I don’t want your pup there either. Safety is my top priority. I look to see if there are busy streets near by, pokey plants, loose dogs, parking availability, accessible to all people, and lastly, I make sure the location feels calm and relaxed. I pick the location because I know what to expect and know the images that I can produce at the locations that I have selected. I know it’s safe for you and your pup.

Your dog does not need to be still during our session. Your dog doesn’t need to know any commands, yes that is right! I practice my dog photography with force free methods. What does “force free” mean? It’s also referred to as R+, which is positive reward based methods. It means that we will not be punishing your dog in any way, we won’t be forcing them to do anything that they do not want to do. We will be allowing them to make their own choices and encourage them to be themselves so that I can capture them as they are. Your dog will lead the session, if they want to look off in to the distance, then you will look off in to the distance with them, if they want to plop and rollover for belly rubs, then we give belly rubs.

We absolutely love the special bond between kids and their dogs! We welcome families with children of all ages to join in on the fun. To ensure everyone feels safe, comfortable, and has a great time, we’ll start with a session planning chat. This gives us the chance to learn about your family, your dog, and the unique relationships you share. Together, we’ll plan a session that captures the love and connection in a way that works best for everyone.
