Our Policies

During the Session

  • All dogs must remain on leash at all times unless instructed otherwise.

  • The dog’s leash must be held at all times.

  • No dog-dog interaction with dogs not involved in the photo session to ensure the safety of humans and dogs.

  • If you’re bringing multiple dogs, please bring extra leashes or preferred walking equipment to keep them safe and comfortable.

Methods We Use

  • We use positive reinforcement and force-free based methods only.

  • No corrections, leash jerks, or punishment will be used, and no yelling at your dog is allowed.

  • Your dog will not be forced to sit, stay, or lay down — we encourage them to be themselves and remain stress-free.

  • Feel free to bring your pup’s favorite treats or toys to keep things positive, as long as they won’t distract from the experience.

Acceptable Equipment

  • Harnesses

  • Solid leashes (no retractable leashes)

  • Flat collars, flat martingale collars, necklace collars (like pearls)

  • Head collars

  • Muzzles (if appropriate for your dog’s comfort and safety)

Unacceptable Equipment

  • Prong collars, nested prong collars

  • Shock collars, bark collars, citronella collars

  • Retractable/flexi leashes

If you have questions about your dog’s gear, please contact us before your session. We’re happy to help make sure your dog is comfortable and safe.

Behavior

  • Clients must disclose any behavioral issues or bite history prior to the session. This helps us respect your dog’s boundaries and ensures a safe and relaxed experience for everyone.

  • We welcome dogs of all needs and backgrounds. If your pup is shy or reactive, just let us know, and we’ll tailor the session to make them feel at ease.

Children

  • For everyone’s safety, children under 10 years old will not be allowed to handle dogs on their own during the session, especially when working with young or large dogs.

  • If your family includes young children, let’s have a session planning chat to discuss how we can best include them while keeping the session fun and safe.

Payment

  • Payment is due once a session date is selected.

  • Session Fees are non-refundable. However, if the session is canceled at least 24 hours prior, the fee can be applied to a future session.

  • Clients are given one reschedule pass for emergencies. Additional reschedules require a new Session Fee.

Photos & Video

  • We often capture behind-the-scenes photos and videos and may share them on social media.

  • If you prefer not to have your session images shared publicly, please inform us before your session.

Illness

  • If you are feeling unwell, showing symptoms of COVID or any communicable illness, or have tested positive for COVID, please let us know as soon as possible. We’ll happily reschedule your session to keep everyone safe.

Non-Discrimination Policy

At Pup + Me, we are committed to creating a space where everyone feels valued, respected, and welcome. We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind, including but not limited to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, national origin, marital status, or socioeconomic background.

We also recognize that each dog is unique, with different needs, behaviors, and abilities. Our approach is rooted in compassion and understanding, ensuring that every pup feels safe, comfortable, and celebrated during their photo session.

Please share any needs or concerns with us — we are here to provide an experience where love, respect, and connection are at the heart of every interaction.
